What's In A Name?

When Rick (my husband) & I first found out we were having a child, we of course started thinking of names. Unlike many couples we actually agreed on name fairly early in the pregnancy. To start with, we knew that we wanted a name from the Bible & that we wanted something different, but not weird. And it also had to be a name that would grow with her.
We looked at many different names & finally decided on Hannah for her first name which means favored or grace & Elizabeth which means oath of God. Hannah Elizabeth, what a perfect name for a perfect girl! It also worked out kind of neat that Hannah happened to be my great grandmother's name as well.
The Hannah in the Bible was unable to have children & prayed to God that if he bless her with a child, she would give that child's life to The Lord. Well, he did bless her with a son & she kept her word to God in giving his life to Him. Her son's name was Samuel & he went on to do many great things & was a wonderful man of God. We have also dedicated our Hannah's life to The Lord that he may use her in amazing ways to glorify Him & His kingdom. This is a very daunting task that we have taken on, but it's something that I feel very strongly about.
It will certainly not be an easy think to accomplish in this world of darkness to raise Hannah to be a woman of God, but it's something that I feel compelled that I must try my absolute hardest to do. I know that we will not do everything perfectly & that we will absolutely make mistakes, but it's not something that I can give up on. My mom made sure that the gift of eternal life was available to me & I want to do the same for my daughter & any other children that we may be blessed with after her.
So anyhow, that's the story of Hannah's name & how it came to belong to her. I couldn't imagine her having any other name & I love it just as much today as I did the day we made the final decision on it.
She's fearfully & wonderfully made & I thank God for her every single day of my life! She is the best thing that has EVER happened to me!
